The Brotherhood of
St Laurence

The Brotherhood of St Laurence was founded in 1930 by Anglican priest Father Gerard Tucker; a passionate campaigner for social reform. Today the Brotherhood works towards an Australia free of poverty through innovative programs, research and campaigns.

We strive for a compassionate and fair society where everyone has a sense of belonging. The organisation believes that it is all too easy to marginalise people as ‘the other’ and imagine they are not ‘like us’. But to do that is to deny a powerful common humanity that knits people, neighbours and communities together: this is the common good we pursue.
